another IP video phone

I must be a telephone junkie; just can't get enough.

With the success of the Grandstream GXV3420 Android video phone on Mesh, got interested in it's bigger screen brother, the GXV3275:

Essentially a GVX3240... with a bigger screen. Had to have one, but bought used (wifey has been frowning a lot lately... hee-hee).

Grandstream Video Phones

Appears there are quite a few Meshies using them.  Since they can do sooooo much, it's time for a general discussion thread on their use.  The functionality  appears to be split among two areas; hardware (Grandstream) specific... and Android specifics.

I just added an advanced hints page on my website:

Grandstream to Dlink

So, I can talk with my grandstream to another grandstream with direct IP dialing. But, when I try to call a dlink phone (or the dlink calls me) it will ring through but there is no audio.

I have, most of the time, over 95% LQ and NLQ.  I am also able to do video calls to other grandstreams.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Custom Logo on Cisco 7940

If anyone can assist in getting a custom logo displayed on a Cisco 7940 I would sure appreciate the help.

I had 8 of these phones given to me, so can't for the life of me, at the moment, see any reason to go out and buy a different brand.

All the phones seem to be working but I now wanted to place a custom logo on the display.

Linphone <--> Linphone connection over AREDN?

If I have only a two node setup (presuming for now no other AREDN nodes in range), will I need a VoIP server in the mix to make the following connection?:

  • home: rocket M2/omni node on rooftop mast, attached to AirRouter HP node. smartphone A on AirRouter wifi with Linphone.

Off The Shelf PBX Appliance?

Has anyone tried using an off the shelf PBX such as the Grandstream GS-UCM6104 on the Mesh?  Our Emergency Manager is kind of leery of using a Raspberry PI and Asterisk and was looking for a more plug and play solution.  We currently are using the Grandstream GXP-1625 phones and have had success dialing direct IP over a small 2 node network, but as the network increases in size then the IP will change dynamically.  So we were looking into a PBX solution and none of us are experienced at all with Linux.

Thanks for the help,

Grandstream Zero Configure over MESH Issues

Hello All,
I have a UCM1602 and am using the GXP1625 as the principal telephones for this Ventura County MESH telephone project.

Anyone used an IRIS Video Phone by ACN?

I picked up two of these cheap off Amazon ~$25 USD each. They come up on the network and acquire IP addresses but complain that there is no digital phone service. There is a WAN port, a LAN port, and what appears to be an RJ-11 phone jack.

Has anyone used these or have any pointers on how to configure them? I have a RasPBX (Pi 3B with RasPBX OS image which bundles Raspian Jesse, Asterisk, and FreePBX) but haven't configured it yet. I thought I'd try a simple test with IP to IP dialing but can't get to first base with these.

csipsimple

I just watched the video from the Hamvention forum and have a question. How do I need to setup csipsimple to use it on the Aredn network?

having trouble adding my RASPBX

So I have a RASPBX that I previously had set up on a node. we had a Key mountaintop node go down so I replaced it with my node that had the PBX on it. now with a new node at home, I am having issues getting the PBX accessible to the network.  here is my set up.  My rocketDish is set up with a NAT address 192.168.1.200.  My PBX is on my same home network with an address of 192.168.1.168.  I have port forwarded port 80, and port 5060 yet it is still not accessible from the Mesh network.  can someone help me figure out what else I need to do.
