GXV3240 Grandstream... WOW !!!

I just finished a 3 week test of the GXV3240 video phone; it has a lot to offer Meshies.  I am still amazed at all it will do.

And like all newer Grandstream phones (GXP1630 gets an honorable mention too), you can make & receive calls by dialing the IP address of the other phone... even to BasicTalks. A PBX/SIP is not needed, though they can be configured to operate through these systems as well.

I went ahead and made a web page with the details:

Polycom IP-550

Anyone have experience with Polycom IP-550?  I've got one laying around, and wondering if anyone has experience with it, and/or knows if/how it can be converted into a SIP device?

Mesh Phonebook

Anybody setup a mesh phonebook server?

I have a R-pi 2 running a TFTP server on the mesh with a phonebook.xml file available
This is compatible with a Grandstream 3240 and you can set it to update the contacts every x hours.

Some standardization is necessary.
I made account 1 direct IP calls.  Account 2 is my PBX (n8jjpbx)

The cheaper Grandstream phones like the 1630 would not dial direct IP from the contacts list.  Grandstream told me they submitted a ticket.  We'll see.

VOIP issue

Any ideas about this problem would be appreciated:

I have a Linksys SPA942 connected to my mesh (and tunnels) via UBNT AR HP.

We set up a buddy with same phone via his Nano, aprox 2 miles away. Connection is 100%.

When we try to call each other, we get connected but neither can hear the other.

I have had my phone operational for some time here in Az, has been working well locally and via tunnel to Mich.

Any ideas?

Switched Video through Asterisk

Tim, N8NQH, was kind enough to lend me a Grandstream GXV3240 phone a few days ago. This is a nice phone and with it I was able to do normal pbx extension to extension voice calling. I was also able to do direct IP to IP video calling. Both types of calls worked ok.

Grandstream GXP1450 -- Mesh set up?

Good morning!

I have a couple of Grandstream 1450s, and am trying to get them set up for mesh net.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to best do that?

Thank you!

UPDATE:  I believe I have them on the network -- I can access the web based set up application by entering their IP address; one is connected to a stand alone node.  However, I can't call between them, using direct IP.

Setting asterisk to do direct IP phone calls

I'm working with a few guys here in Pasadena (10 miles east of Los Angeles) with some help from the OC Mesh folks.  I have asterisk running on a Raspberry Pi 3 and can dial my own VOIP/IP phones, so it seems to be working right.  Although our group would share an asterisk server, I'd like to define some "extensions" that would dial an IP number directly (so the receiving end would not have to register with our asterisk server, and the calling end can avoid keying in a long IP number).   Can anyone point me to an example of how to set up sip.conf and extensions.conf to achieve this?   It see

IAX2 Issue

Greetings!

I am trying to link two Asterisk/FreePBX systems using IAX2. As we do not have an RF link between the two mesh islands we are using a mesh tunnel. Each end shows an active IAX2 trunk on the dashboard page but when dialing a phone on the other end, each receives an all circuits are busy message. We have 5525 forwarded for the tunnel and, after several failed attempts, have forwarded 4569 with UDP at both ends with no change.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

GXP1450 log on issue

This isn't strictly AREDN related, but it does involve VOIP.

I have a Grandstream GXP1450, and it went through a firmware upgrade this morning.  When I tried to log on as admin through the web application, it rejects the admin password.  It also rejects the default admin password.  It still accepts the default user password, though.

I'm digging through the INTERNET on this, but I am asking here, in case someone has experienced a similar issue.

Thank you!

Anybody Using a Cisco 7912 VoIP Phone?

Is anyone using a 7912 Cisco phone on their site? Is it identical to any other Cisco 79xx phones?

Thanks
