AREDN Network IP address range

Forums:

My apologies if this information is already available elsewhere on the site.  May someone please tell me the possible IP address range for an AREDN network?

I am setting up a NTP timeserver on our mesh network using the new NW Digital DRAWS and need to configure a .conf file with the following information:

Assuming you are connected to a LAN and want to have other systems see and/or poll for time, you can add the following (Example uses a LAN with addresses in the range 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.255)

TFTP problem loading to Nanostation M5

Forums:

This is probably a rookie problem, and if answered elsewhere, please point me. I am trying to upload firmware to a Nanostation M5. I haven't used TFTP before, but what I see on the command line is different from what is on the detailed instructions for the M5. For example, there is no "bin" command; so, I am unsure of what commands to use to load the file to the M5. I can get to the AirOS on the M5, I can get the 1-3, 2-4 lights on the M5 when I put it in TFTP mode. Any help would be appreciated.

West Coast Network

Forums:

With the assistance of a couple of tunnels, we linked some West Coast mesh islands together tonight.  It took Erick, KG6WXC's polling software almost an hour to get through all the linked nodes, but it did, and the resulting network is shown in this screenshot.  Pretty cool.

How many mesh chat nodes?

How many nodes in a network should have mesh chat installed?
One?
All?
Some strategic number?

Thanks!

Netgear GS105E for linking AREDN and BBHN devices?

Forums:

Good evening!

I read this article with interest:  [LINK REMOVED]

My question is:  can the Netgear GS105E be used to link a Linksys with an AREDN device?  If I am reading the article correctly, the GS105E is a "managed switch", or some reasonable facsimile thereof.

TP-Link CPE210 v1.1

Forums:
Hello,

I have TP-Link CPE210 v1.1 runing Firmware version: develop-134-64eb08bd
I'm trying to configure this node with 2.397 GHz (Channel -2) and Channel Width 5MHz. However, the channel is not available from the setup page so I tried to configure it from the ssh but it did not work.

root@******:~# iwinfo wlan0 freqlist
  2.397 GHz (Channel -2)
  2.402 GHz (Channel -1)
* 2.412 GHz (Channel 1)
  2.417 GHz (Channel 2)
  2.422 GHz (Channel 3)
  2.427 GHz (Channel 4)
  2.432 GHz (Channel 5)

NTP

Forums:

In trying to test the use of a private mesh-connected NTP server, I find am unable to get my node to access the other users IP address from the node where I am running a tunnel client and tunnel server. The NTP server's address is reachable from the other nodes on my mesh, as well as a laptop plugged into the tunnel server node, but not from the OS of the router running the tunnel software.  I tried 3.1.15 and 3.1.16b01.

San Marcos Peak - Vista, CA

Forums:
San Marcos Peak located in Vista, CA is now fully active with backbone links to Sleeping Indian and Elsinore Peak. Currently it has a link to Red Mountain making it possible for the Rainbow area group to see the larger AREDN network and also has a 120 degree 5.8 ghz sector facing West for Carlsbad/Oceanside. Soon we will add a 2.4 GHz sector to this site.

AREDN Mesh Go Kits at B2V

Forums:

On March 23rd, 2019 we supported the annual B2V Relay Cup race. We tested our mesh field deployment capabilities and had 4 mesh stations at Stage 9:

1) Early Warning (Mile Out)
2) Mesh Repeater (Rocket with Altelix Omni)
3) 200m Warning
4) Stage 9 Comm Tent

Everything was configured for 5.8 GHz.  We used only one channel without any problems, but we did have nodes pre-configured as a cross-channel repeater, had that proven to be necessary.

Altelix sector antennas

Forums:
Based on the glowing recommendations of  Damon K9CQB, I recently purchased several of the Altelix 5 GHz sector antennas, and recently deployed one with a Rocket M5 to a site as an replacement for a Nanostation M5.   It works as advertised; coverage and link quality is as expected.   (and the price is certainly good - $30 on sale, plus $20 shipping).
