Mesh + local network

Forums:
I've 2 units of Ubiquiti M2 units here that I was able to mesh together on a short distance (5km)
I've connected my home side to my home network and wanted to reach from inside the network the Rocket M2 unit.

While I can attach my laptop directly to the unit and have access,
no matter what I did - thru the home network when I connect the LAN side of my POE to the router I just can't reach it.

I've tried to use NAT with static IP (192.168.1.20) where my router's scope is 192.168.1.0/24

GFI vs Mesh

Forums:
I am trying to set up a crude antenna test station, with 2 nodes on my yard intended to talk to each other.
At the moment, one is a Nanostation M2 and the other is a Mikrotik ldf-2. they are both powered from the usual
POE devices, thru extension cords, and to a single outlet in the house.  The problem is the outlets are GFI protected, and they
blow after a little while (not instantly when turned on).  This makes it impossible to get to the RF end of my testing.

Why should this setup blow the GFI breaker?

900 mhz vs trees

Forums:
We have an  important node at our Red cross Hq. Until recently it has been able to connect to another of our key nodes without problem.
However this summer we get only a weak, unusable signal. We have replaced the antenna with a different node, tried a different cable and POE, all of which
made no difference.  So we are attributing the signal loss to the growth of big trees in the signal path.  The other node is only 1 mile away.

Mikrotik hAP AC Lite integration into existing 10.0.0.0/16 network

Forums:
We've been deploying hAP AC Lites in all of the agencies where we install ham network equipment.  But the local hospital uses 10.60.0.0/16 as their network, and predictably the nodes connected to the hAP aren't given the correct route to the Internet.

Any suggestions for a workaround?

Thanks.

Carrying DMR/YSF traffic over AREDN with no internet required

Forums:
Two presentations were made at the 2018 Cowtown Hamfest in Fort Worth, TX on Saturday January 20th, 2018 by Mark J Culross, KD5RXT.

The presentations were as follows:

Title:  Emergency Communications Using DMR Over the MESH Network With No Internet Required

AREDN in Washington D.C. - Smithsonian Institute NN3SI

Forums:
Our Nation's Capital now has a few AREDN nodes hanging out on Smithsonian Institute's facilities.
We've emplaced these nodes specifically in time for the Marine Corps Marathon. I'm sure Mark WA4KFZ will post about that later.

RTSP vs HTTP Video (was mesh overhead)

Forums:
The topic I started as Mesh Overhead branched into other topics, so it was rightly suggested to start a new topic.
See Mesh Overhead for previous comments.

I made a test of rtsp vs http protocols over our local mesh network.
Connected to a station who is 5 hops away, and has a camera that supports rtsp and http. ETX 5.35.
There is no other traffic on the network except the usual overhead.
The camera is set to 30 fps (too high I know).  But in the past I have lowered it to 3 fps and it made no difference.
Connected with IE and Firefox via HTTP.
