installed Mesh Chat but I can't reach the others

Forums:
I can see 8 other users on my MESH Status.  I have the latest version of the firmware 3.16.1.1 and I installed MeshChat V 1.0

If I send a message it displays but no one sees it! are there any other configuration alterations that need to be done?  Like in Basic setup, port forwarding, DHCP and services to make it work?  I've tried to follow what is in Trevor's help doc, but I'm lost (it doesn't help to be dyslexic trying to read major text and understand it all together).  No tunnel present!

Thanks

Signal miror possible?

Forums:
Hi,

One of the site I plan to install a node, a mountain top, the signal will not be reached mountain on the mountain side. However I do have a location that would face the mountain top node and the mountain side node where I could install a "mirror" device.

Can a stand-alone device act as a relay without the need for a switch ? Or does it need a switch anyway ?

EdgeRouterX Question

Forums:

I have an EdgeRouterX configured as a switch with Mesh Node A on eth0 and LAN (10) on eth1-eth4.  Is there a way I can "disable default route" on just eth4?

I'd like to put a wireless AP on eth4 that allows access to the mesh LAN but NOT allow access to WAN (internet).

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I'm a bit new to the finer points of network management and losing hair at an alarming rate.  frown

Many thanks,

Prevent LAN devices from accessing WAN

Forums:

The goal is to create a wireless interface to a local AREDN node which does not offer internet access while at the same time allowing internet access on a different access point.  We are using a hAP router and a AirRouter HP connected DtD, running the latest nightly build, and using both AP's for access with 5 G on the hAP and 2.4 G on the AirRouter HP.  "Prevent LAN devices from accessing WAN" is enabled on the AirRouter HP.

New User Firmware question

Forums:

I have a new NanoBridge M3 running AirOS firmware XM.v5.6.11. There are many comments about firmware level on the forums and I'm not clear if I have to downgrade before loading AREDN or if I can just tftp the AREDN load with the current 5.6.11 AirOS.

Recommendations for Ethernet cable?

Forums:
We use mostly Ubiquiti Ethernet cable and connectors, but have had occasional issues with them that we don't seem to have at sites that aren't using Ubiquiti parts.   Is anyone else seeing this?   Any recommendations?

Thanks.

TP-Link Power specs

Forums:
The CPE 610 specs specify 16-27 VDC for power.  Does anyone know if these will operate at 12 volts like the Ubiquiti products?

More goodies

Forums:

Here's a cool feature just added to the AREDN network firmware: When viewing the SNR graph, you can enable a tone. As the SNR increases, the tone increases in frequency. Conversely as the SNR decreases the tone drops. It will be a great aid towards properly pointing that dish, or any node for that matter, at the distant end, especially when you aren't able to be near the computer. (Thanks Joe and Darryl!)

Other tweaks recently added:

how to browse from my regular lan

Forums:

Does anyone know how I might be able to set up rules in my pfsense firewall so I can hook my node up to it once my node online, so that I might be able to browse the mesh network locally along with my local lan?

I also have a windows 2012 server doing my dhcp/dns if that would be a better option to “bridge” the 2 networks together.
