Remote indoor installation of GL iNet devices

Fun with GL iNet devices and USB extension cords:

AR300M16-EXT worked with 45' of USB extension cords, => 4.5 volts ~0.05 to 0.10 amperes

Sector antenna mounting advice needed

Forums:

I need to mount 3 120 degree Ubiquiti sector antennas on the same mast.    However they can't be staggered vertically.   What hardware would you recommend for offsetting the antennas enough from the mast so they can be mounted conveniently?

Ideally I'd need a manufacturer name and part number, as I have to pass them along to a governmental agency for purchasing.

Thanks.

AREDN node on Tethered Drone.

Forums:
My buddy finally agreed to mount one of my AREDN nodes on his Tethered Drones to create an instant tower. We chose a NanoStation M5 because channel 180 doesn't interfere at all with the other equipment he uses on the 'flying tower' and we also wanted to link into other equipment on the drone, like a web camera or a thermal/night imager (if we wanted to spot fires or rescue people).

Deployment to Larger Network - The Big Picture

Forums:

Hello AREDN folks,

I have two nodes connected near the beach (Marina Del Rey, CA) running parallel to the beach about 4 miles apart. I'm using Ubiquity Nanostation M5's. Successfully running.

On my first try, I tried to connect to Mt. Wilson in Los Angeles on just the standard Nanostation (no dish), if I point it NE just right, it may show up. But it comes and goes. It says LQ of 100% but NLQ is 0. OK I figure it is too far at 27 miles and I may need a dish.

Computers aren't talking

Forums:
I am still new to mesh networking. I have configured three (3) Linksys routers (because that's what I already owned prior to discovering AREDN) with the BBHN software and one (1) Ubiquiti Rocket M2 with the AREDN software. Mesh status shows all nodes connected, and I can successfully ping each node. However, I cannot ping any computer behind any node.

All anti-virus software and firewalls (both windows and third-party) was disabled completely in an attempt to solve this problem.  No joy.

Any AREDN in Chicagoland or NW Indiana

Forums:
I recently moved to Indiana, North West part of the state between Chicago and South Bend.  I haven't see any AREDN stations on the air nor heard of any AREDN activity from the local ham club.  So...anyone out there?  I have a couple of nodes running and they should be on the AREDN map, but currently from very limited locations.  I have a tunnel back to my ham friends back in Virginia that is putting me on the map  The local ham club has access to a very substantial tower, but I won't go thru the work to get a station on there until I know if there are other stations in the area.  I have a

MatterMost Chat Servers linked

Forums:
Thanks to the work of Bailey, KK6ORT, and Eric, KG6WXC, we now have two Mattermost servers linked on the Mesh. KK6ORT-Debian.local.mesh:1001 is located in Redlands, CA and kg6wxc-srv.local.mesh:8065 is located in Ventura, CA.

Look for the public channel “MeshLink” on the Ventura side and “outermesh” on the Redlands side.

Great work guys!

Mobile hAP AC Lite

Forums:

This isn't a traditional GoKit but I wanted to show this and get any feedback. I'm calling this whole setup (which may expand into an app) OMSAT - Open Mobile Situational Awareness Tool Kit.

New SoCal high-level node

Forums:

Thought some of you might be interested in this -

Saturday (8/3) a team of hams went up to Loop Canyon, a 1,600 foot hill north of Los Angeles. There's a commercial radio site located there. We installed a 120 degree sector antenna and Rocket M5 directed roughly north at the Santa Clarita Valley.
