Ubiquiti AMO-5G13 vs. Rocket Dish for new deployment

Forums:

I'm just getting started with AREDN and there are very few nodes in my area. Another ham and I are planning to get started together and hope to encourage other hams in the area to get started as well.  He lives 3 miles SSE of me.  There is another node 7 miles further SSE of him that is connected to a node about 16 miles NNE of him.  From the map that user has both a 5ghz radio (NanoBridge 5) and a 2ghz radio (Bullet M2).  The 2ghz radio is the one connected NNE of him.

Mesh chat seems to be only one way syncing

Forums:

Firstly want to say amazing app. Great work.

Couple of things.

1.  I just installed the app tonight on my node. Using MeshChat as the channel.  Checking 2 others on that channel it appears to only be "uploading" the messages rather than also syncing both ways.
I've restarted my node a few times in case that helped. But no joh.

2 some suggestions for other updates;
a. Edit a message - typo etc.
b. Edit a channel after posting. Let's you file or fix errors.
c. Delete message option

cheers.

Network topology

Forums:

Hello,
I am going to extend my network adding two new nodes operating at different frequencies and connected in DtD with a 802.1Q  GS108E switch.
I can't see in the mesh one of the two new nodes.
I attach some screenshots with some notes.
Thanks for any help and advice.

AREDN Mesh “Go-Box” (version 2 and 2a)

Forums:

This is my second iteration of a Go-Box for my AREDN Mesh equipment.  It is actually two boxes - one as a "base" node and the second as a "remote/bridge" node.  I had several goals in mind when building these units:  (1) a kit that can have all (or almost all) of the necessary components together in one place, (2) easy setup of an AREDN node at a special event or emergency deployment, (3) be able to experiment with the hardware in my home without having cables and power supplies all over.  The base system is housed in a Stanley roll-around tool chest from Home Depot ($29!!).  It looks to be

Hey all,

Restart - Implementing AREDN in Puerto Rico

Forums:

By the time I got electricity again on Christmas Eve after Maria hit Puerto Rico, I had already thinking about a minimal network for disasters. During the blackout, when we lost all telecommunication at my house,

it was a humbling experience that left me feeling super isolated. I made a promise to myself then, to never be disconnected from world and the Internet again.

Nightly Build 1000-3324ce8 and iperf

Forums:

I have Nightly Build  aredn-1000-3324ce8-ubnt-nano-m-sysupgrade on a NanoStation XM M2.
The problem is that I can't seem to get iperfSpeed running.
These are the iperf files I loaded:
1 uclibcxx_0.2.4-3_mips_24kc
2 iperf_2.0.12-2_mips_24kc
3 iperf3_3.5-1AREDN_mips_24kc
4 iperfspeed_0.5_all
I can see the files loaded OK, but there is no advertised service.
I did reboot after loading the 4 files.
Wondering what I missed?

Update: If I add IpeerfSpeed manually as an Advertised Service it appears to work OK.

Official AREDN Map - updates

Forums:

Just a list of changes I have done to the official AREDN map page recently.

Note:
The Official AREDN Map can be found here: http://usercontent.arednmesh.org/K/5/K5DLQ/livemap2.html
This should not be confused with my other MeshMap project. They are 2 different things.

Question about Meshmap and/or Feature request

Forums:

Greetings,

While I was playing around with the MeshMap on one of my nodes, I got an interesting idea to somehow output a KML file for Google Earth.  I started writing a python program to go thru the MeshMap SQL database and build a KML file.

This is what I've got, so far:
