Tools for planning and deployment

Forums:
Hi,
I am looking for help and recommendations for the following tools:-

1) Band/frequency survey devices we can use to do an assessments of band availability for Aredn across the County.
2) Any recommended topography tool to allow us to plan site locations (e.g for line of sight and height visibility)
3) I saw document/spreadsheet on Google files that had all the devices that Aredn supports but with a lot of detail - anyone have that and can send it to me as I was not able to download off Google.

Any assistance appreciated.

Not sure if this is viable.  Looking for examples of prior work in this direction.

Light Dish Feed Install

Forums:
See attached for a narration of how I installed the Mikrotik Light Dish Feed successfully to a Satellite TV dish.  The gain, at its current state of testing and adjusting, is 5dB better than my Nanobridge 5G25 dish pointed to the same mountaintop node. It's a bit big and awkward for portable Go-Kit use, but if used on a sturdy tripod, will work if you don't need to put it on a mast.

ubiquiti airfiber 60lr as a backbone?

Forums:
I was looking at the ubiquiti airfiber 60ghz lr dish and was thinking perhaps arden could be implemented on that since we already are allowed to use those frequencies

is it possible to install the arden software on the ubiquiti airfiber 60ghz lr dish to be used as a backbone to several different sites or would it need to be modified to work with those units?

Or would it be less complex to use the units as they are and have them connected through a switch to feed to the arden network further down

Self-contained pole-mounted go-kit

Forums:

I've reconfigured my portable equipment, and thought the group might be interested in this. It's a completely self-contained pole-mounted go-kit. No wires dangling down to the ground. This is all powered by the 20V lithium batteries my trimmer takes (In this case Black & Decker, but you could make it work with just about any brand). The node demonstrated is my Nanostation, which I use as a test node, though I intend on putting my MantBox on there instead. On the side, the box with the NWO Aredn Mesh logo is a Mikrotik outdoor grade 2.4GHz access point, running on channel 11.

equalize power levels

Our 5 GHz network has three stations connected to a mountain station.

The mountain node "Charts" sees different levels roughly as follows:

help finding parts for projects for my aredn island in santa cruz ca

Forums:

hello
my name is Ciaran k0cdf
this is my first time using aredn. I am currently an island. there are no other aredn stations in santa cruz california.
my rooftop tower k0cdf-0 is the first one.

this is my first time putting ham infrastructure on my house and I wish I had a mentor for this.
I kinda got a bit out of hand with this question and it turned into a bit of a brain dump of everything i wish I could talk about with a mentor about aredn and digital ham stuff.

Cheap power supply and HF interference

Forums:
I share a tower site with other hams and received a call about a 12v ipCam power supply that had been tracked down as the cause of HF interference.  They were kind enough to swap out the power supply with a better one :) , and I avoided a drive up while being out of state :) .    This power supply was 4A @ 12vdc rated that came with one of these low cost China made ipCams.    While the price was right, the old saying, "you get what you pay for" applies.  Although, we've been very happy with the ipCam itself.     I make this post in case others are able to avoid  a similar situation and may be
