DTD over bridge

Forums:

I have a 2gig and a 5gig mounted about 300 feet apart.  I cannot mount them close together because there are obstructions due to the direction they are pointing.  I am trying a 5gig wireless bridge in lieu 300 feet of CAT cable to connect the 2 nodes together to achieve a DTD connection.  I understand there is VLAN traffic to make this work.  So far I cannot get the 2 nodes to DTD connect.  I am testing this on a bench and if I put a CAT cable between the nodes or plug them both into a dumb switch, I get a DTD connect, but if I use the bridge it does not work.  I suspect the bridge has an i

Ammo Can go kit

Forums:

OK, I've just finished putting together my ammo can go kit. I will be using a cheap android phone to serve as a terminal, camera, and/or phone extension, as needed. It's got a battery built in, a power switch on the outside, a very small node (AR-150-ext), an AR-MT300N to act as a wifi client, 5V, 24V and 48V power supplies, and a slightly modified POE switch to provide both 24V and 48V ports. The battery is a 7AH gel cell, with 1/4in tabs. It fits perfectly on end inside the plastic ammo can. The plastic was also easy to cut a slot out of for cables to come out as needed.

New production release available.

Forums:
AREDN production release 3.22.6.0 is now available. This is the release you've been looking for :-)

Since the last production release, there have been 136 separate ‘pull requests’ in the AREDN github repository. Those requests pulled these significant improvements and new features into the AREDN software:

1. The conversion from Perl programming to Lua is complete - the result is a significantly smaller, somewhat faster, code base.

Interference with repeaters?

Forums:
Hi, everyone,

If this is the wrong place please let me know (or move the post). I'm curious if anyone has experienced interference between their 5.8GHz nodes and 2m repeaters? Our setup is three Rocket M5's with 120-degree sector antennas mounted about four feet below our 2m and 70cm antennas for the repeaters. We've been noticing what we thought was a squelch tail on the 2m repeater and someone suggested it might be the nodes.

Has anyone experienced this at all? And if you did, what did you end up doing to solve the issues?

What is the recommended method of creating a bidirectional gateway between mesh phones and a telco line?

High Speed Backbone Nodes

Forums:

Hello Members,

My day job is a network engineer/security engineer.    I have been reading up on the network setup for AREDN but still have a few questions about how it operates and a few feature questions that I can't seem to locate in the forums.  So here we go.

More good stuff from AREDN!

Forums:
The AREDN dev team has shifted into high gear (this is the third release of 2022)!  This production release adds the many fixes and enhancements made since 3.22.6.0.Fixes
  • Dealt with LAN on AR300M always having the same MAC address.

  • Fixed default DHCP limits in NAT mode if fields are blank.

  • Fixed a "do not propagate" issue when reserving DHCP names.

  • Fixed tactical names.

Can't upload to official AREDN map

Forums:
I've got a bunch of different devices (CPE510, CPE210, hAP, SXTsq5, AR750, LHG), with current firmware, and no matter how I setup the networking/WAN/LAN I can't get them to let me get on the map. I can download firmware and packages, just no map.
The Find Me! button never works for me, tried on PC and Android phone. I can enter the info manually and the node will show up on my internal map. The Upload button is always grey.

Daisy Chaining NS M2/M5 XW devices using Secondary Port Issue

Forums:
While we had over 100 mesh nodes testing out the nightly builds prior to release, there is a missing change in 3.20.3.0 for Nanostation M2/M5 XW devices in the ath79 nanostion-m-xw images we didn't catch.    Please be aware that the following usage of (and only affects) NanoStation XW devices will not work as expected (daisy-chain with POE pass though):

hAP ac lite port 5 -> main port - NSM5 XW - secondary port -> main port - NSM3 (or any other mesh node)

New hAPs ---> Better performance

Forums:

Like me, your Internet feed is probably substantially faster than 100 Mbit/sec.  So having your shack network throttled by a hAP ac Lite to 100 Mbit/sec is kind of annoying.  But there's good news!  Both the hAP ac2 and ac3, which are supported in the latest nightly builds, have gigabit Ethernet ports.  The ac2 and ac3 not only have faster CPUs than the ac Lite, but they also both have 4 CPU cores, compared to the single one of the ac Lite.   The ac3 has external antenna for its radio, while the ac2 continues with internal ones.  The other difference is the amount of RAM in each device.   W
