DtDLink limit?

Forums:

Is there any practical limit to the number of nodes that can be connected via DtDLink?

Ch -2 vs CH -1

Forums:

Which will yield the best throughput, CH -2 at 10MHz with no interference from part 15 devices or CH -1 at 20MHz which will overlap CH 1 and CH 2 with the potential for interference from these channels? That's probably a hard question to answer since there will be situations of little to no interference from CH 1 and CH 2 to a lot of interference from these channels. I get this question a lot and I imagine that since this is conditioned on the environment of a particular node the only way to really answer it is to run tests on a node and then make the decision on which channel to use.

3Ghz test results in Orange County SoCAL

Forums:

Frank, WA2KWR, and myself (AE6XE) tested a 3Ghz link with the AREDN 3.15.1.0b01.  The conditions:

Node A:  Rocket M3 with 120 degree AirMax Sector Antenna (18dBi dual channel @ 25dBM)

Node B:  NanoStation M3 (13dBi dual channel @ 25dBMm)

3.42Ghz and 14.4 MIles apart in metropolitan area of RF noise!

Is it a distance record? 98 miles on ch -2

Forums:

KE6BXT and myself completed the install of sector panel coverage (see SoCal forum announcements of coverage) this weekend.   We were elated to see  the Ventura guys on Sulphur Mountain.    For those of you not familiar with Southern California, this is flying over the top of Los Angles and 98 miles distance. On both ends are Rocket M2s with 120 deg sector panels at only 15dBi gain.    This is ch -2 @ 10Mhz.

olsr-topology-view for network maps?

Forums:

I recall using olsr-topology-view with earlier iterations of the software.

The plugin installed properly on localnode, but the perl script doesn't run correctly on my Linux host.   It returns

'is the olsrd_dot_draw plugin loaded and configured to allow connections from this host?'

In looking at the script, it seems like it wants to use port 2004.  I used nmap against localnode and found that it's not listening on that port.

Does anything need to be done to make this script work with the b02 beta code?

Thanks.

Reserved dhcp addresses are shown in the mesh status

Forums:

is there a way (I.e. Editing a config file, for now) to not lost reserved dhcp addresses as connected hosts in the Mesh Status page. This listing makes sense when the host has available services links. But, there are times when I would rather not advertise the presence of that host. In my case, the "host" is actually an intact on a router.  Could we have a check box to indicate whether the host should be listed it not... If there were services advertised on the host, the box would be checked and grayed out.

To all, enjoy a day away from the mesh tomorrow.

adding a permanent default route

Forums:

Where would I add a default route to be configured each time the node boots?

Specifically, I am now entering the command: ip route add default via 10.224.75.89

and I would like that to be automatic.

Italy chapter

Forums:

Hi guys... or Hi OMs!!!

I've deployed latest 3.15.1.0b04 on all my nodes except one who is locked in 3.0.2 because it is not easily reachable...

You can see them on the net 'cause I'm tunneled with AE5CA.

IR5UBN-NODE (NS2M) is on the hill and IZ5FSA-LINK (NSL2M) is outside my home. IZ5FSA-NODE (NSL2M) is in the shack and all works fine with 10MHz band on channel 8 2,4GHz. I've planned to deploy 2 more nodes at my Local Radio Club and at out repeater location. Probably another NS2M and a Bullet with a big vertical on it.
