VM Deployment; multi-port Detection

Forums:
I'm attempting to get a new AREDN node setup in a virtualized environment.  The host system is Proxmox.

I'd like to make use of the "Multi-port Mode" for network interfaces that is described in the documentation, however I've not yet found a configuration that seems to be correctly setting up the system.  The docs note that the port mode is:

failure in initial AREDNmesh firmware install for Mikrotik hAP ac lite

Forums:
My hAP is ac2.  I've repeatedly attempted the initial AREDNmesh firmware load, but at the end, never can ping 192.168.1.1  -- I downloaded the firmware files from  https://downloads.arednmesh.org/afs/www/?version=3.24.10.0&target=ipq40x...

My procedure (and notes):

mikrotik hAP lite ac default IP address is 192.168.88.1
1 connect only PC and mikrotik to an ethernet switch

Eagle Scout project - Deploying Nodes for Emergency Mgt Agency

Forums:

Anyone here who has participated in a Eagle Scout project with AREDN ?  If so, I'd like to collaborate and understand how adults and scouts were led in the project.   Our regional scout council is attuned to projects requiring wood, saws, nails, and hammers.  But this project has a different look and feel.  I think there's an opportunity here for STEAM-oriented scouts to create some much needed "communication resiliency" for their communities.

Intermittent Node

Forums:
I have a Ubiquiti NanoStation M2 XW which works great and then intermittently performs poorly or is not visible on the network.  Problems takes too long to respond.  I am suspecting an interfering signal, but not sure how to troubleshoot this problem.  Is there a diagnostic build which will tell me what signals the device is hearing and the signal strength?

More information:
I've attached a pdf with the mesh status and the WiFi scan.

build new firmware for new device

Forums:
hi everyone,

i've been trying to compile my own aredn firmware. folowing the github https://github.com/aredn/aredn
i'm using ubuntu(focal).building firmware images was okay(success, not really tested it though)

further more, i want to build my own firmware, with my own device that's not listed on supported hardware.
it's mikrotik RB951G-2HnD and RB951UI-2HnDboth has wireless and 5 ethernets). after digging for days this is what i added to existing files.

AREDN Production Release 3.24.10.0 is now available.

Forums:

The biggest change in this release if you haven't been keeping tabs on AREDN, is the "new UI". The old UI, written in LUA not only looked old, it was hampering the implementation of new features.  Now written in JavaScript, among other things it's more economical on bandwidth used to display the user interface.  It's also much easier to add new features. The new UI has taken 6 months and the work of many, many people. We’d like to thank everyone involved with developing, documenting, and especially debugging this; we really appreciate our community!

AREDN software status

Forums:

Now that we’re about halfway to the next production release, here’s an update on where the AREDN software is at. Since the last production release there have been almost 100 changes to the AREDN codebase. There are improvements both to the new UI and the backend processes, some small and some significant. Here are the changes that may be of interest. Note that the old UI has been deprecated and removed from the code.

Testing Highlights

Testing of these features would be very welcome:

No Connection - hAP AC3 to UBNT Dish

Forums:
I am trying to setup last-mile node where a MikroTik hAP ac3 is the central hub with wired LAN, Wireless LAN and a connection to a UBNT dish.

At this point all nodes are in there default configuration except the hAP ac3 where I have configured WiFi as LAN.

When I connect the UBNT dish to port 5 for dtd the two nodes don't appear to communicate. In the MikroTik I see port 5 five as active.

Is there additional configuration I am missing?

Is this a supported/recommended configuration?

Where are Installed Packages Configured?

Forums:
I have a number of packages installed but can't seem to find where to configure them.

I have tried new UI, old UI and SSH but it's unclear.

A few examples;

The gpsd-clients package needs to be pointed to the gpsd stream coming from another system on the network.

For the snmpd package it would be useful to configure the SNMP version and set a string name.

Thanks,

-JP
