I recently flashed my Mikrotik hAP ac lite. I am doing this on windows. I got all the way to creating the node (callsign-1). router rebooted but now I can't connect to the node. I reset my IPv4 address to obtain automatically. When trying to connect to http://localnode I get the error below:

Did you obtain an IP address on your 'windows'?
If yes, what IP address?
If no, set your 'windows' to an appropriate IP address, then
can you PING the hAP-ac-lite on address 192.168.1.1?
"I get the error below:"
I see nothing 'below' in your post.

Did your disable the Wi-Fi adapter on your computer?
Your computer may be discovering a Wi-Fi Access Point and
getting an IP address from that instead of your hAP-ac-lite.

1. Download the AREDN software for MikroTik hAP ac2 kernel file: aredn-3.25.2.0-ipq40xx-mikrotik-mikrotik_hap-ac2-initramfs-kernel.bin
2. Rename this file to rb.elf
3. Download and setup my PXE server
4. Edit the config.ini and add rfc951=1 just below the DHCP then save and exit
5. Copy the rb.elf to the files folder of the Tiny PXE server
6. Connect my PC NIC to a dumb switch.
7. Connect Port 1 (WAN) of my Mikrotik Router to the dumb switch. The power supply disconnected.
8. Assign a static IP to my PC NIC - first I tried assigning 192.168.1.10 / 24 Gateway: 192.168.1.1
9. Launch the PXE server. Bind to the IP address of the PC 192.168.1.10
IP pool start / size: DHCP start 192.168.1.11 number of address: 10
Change the Boot file filename name to rb.elf
Unchecked the filename if user-class=gPXE or iPXE
Place the PXE server online
10. With the unit powered off, I press and hold the reset button on the router then insert the power plug powering on the router. I continue holding the reset button until I see TFTPd: DoReadFile: rb.elf in the Tiny PXE log window then only then I release the reset button.
11. The router reboots. I place the PXE server to off line
12. I move the patch cord of the router from Port 1 (WAN) to Port 2 LAN
13. On my PC I open command prompt and ping 192.168.1.1 - I got no reply 100% packet loss
14. I changed the IP address of my PC from static to DHCP - and I noticed I got 192.168.88.254 / 24 assigned to my PC right away with a default gateway of 192.168.88.1
15. I open chrome browser, type http://192.168.88.1 - and the MikroTik RouterOS opens up instead of the AREDN interface. I failed.
So I tried again, repeating steps 7 to 12 except this time
on Step 8 - I assign a static IP of 192.168.88.10 / 24 Gateway: 192.168.88.1
Step 9 Bind The PXE server to the PC address of 192.168.88.10
IP pool start / size: DHCP start 192.168.88.11 number of address: 10
Change the Boot file filename name to rb.elf
Unchecked the filename if user-class=gPXE or iPXE
Place the PXE server online
With the unit powered off, I press and hold the reset button on the router then insert the power plug powering on the router. I continue holding the reset button until I see TFTPd: DoReadFile: rb.elf in the Tiny PXE log window then only then I release the reset button.
The router reboots. I place the PXE server to off line
I move the patch cord of the router from Port 1 (WAN) to Port 2 LAN
On my PC I open command prompt and ping 192.168.88.1 - I got reply with 0% packet loss
I changed the IP address of my PC from static to DHCP - and I noticed I got 192.168.88.254 / 24 assigned to my PC right away with a default gateway of 192.168.88.1
I open chrome browser, type http://192.168.88.1 - and the MikroTik RouterOS opens up instead of the AREDN interface. I failed AGAIN
__________________________________________________________________________
So I stayed on Mikrotik RouterOS went to System > Routerboard > Bootdevice: try-ethernet-once-then-nand and unchecked Protected routerboot option then I click apply and save then exit then power off the router
After all these, I repeat the procedure from the top assigning 192.168.88.10 / 24 as my PC address. Again it failed. I got no AREDN and the RouterOS survived the procedure.
Please help.
73,
Al (VA3BHY)
I only read the first few lines and am quickly responding.
The RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US is a.k.a. hAP-ac-lite and is not a.k.a. hAP-ac2.
Also, the RB952Ui-5ac2nD-US takes the ath79 firmware and not the ipq40xx firmware:
aredn-3.25.2.0-ath79-mikrotik-mikrotik_routerboard-952ui-5ac2nd-initramfs-kernel.bin
or similar Nightly Builds.
The hAP ac² (RBD52G-5HacD2HnD) takes ipq40xx firmware:
aredn-3.25.2.0-ipq40xx-mikrotik-mikrotik_hap-ac2-initramfs-kernel.bin
The hAP-ac3 (RBD53iG-5HacD2HnD) takes ipq40xx firmware:
aredn-3.25.2.0-ipq40xx-mikrotik-mikrotik_hap-ac3-initramfs-kernel.bin
Let us identify exactly the model of device.

Thank you so much for your response and advise. I found the ath79 firmware for my router.
It is up and running.
Now, the fun part begins. Programming and adding services to it.
I will start with a VoIP service.
It looks like I am the only one doing an AREDN here in my area.
I will look into using the internet to create a VPN tunnel to another node.
Thanks again for your quick assitance.
73,
Al
I recommend asking VE3KPG for a (wireguard) tunnel.
Or me.
If you do get a connection to a LAN with a ('World') supernode and
you advertise a VoIP phone, I will call you. ;-)
73, Chuck
VE3KPG-GATEWAY
Description Kawartha Packet Group, located near Hiawatha, Ontario - Winlink RMS Gateway,BBS/Node and IGate
Location 44.19307406409906,-78.2378194
I contacted VA3YCL for a tunnel to his super node. I also asked for a mesh extension.
I will keep you posted.
Is it ok to have more than 1 tunnel running on my node?
May I ask you for a (wireguard) tunnel ?
My email is: va3bhy@gmail.com
Thanks.
Al (VA3BHY)
"Is it ok to have more than 1 tunnel running on my node?" Yes.
Supernodes only tunnel with supernodes and DtD with reguLar nodes.
For starting out, you should tunnel with a regular node...especially one
already linked into the 'World Map'.
https://worldmap.arednmesh.org/#1.5/35/-14
I do not know what a 'mesh extension' is.
Do you mean a phone extension on a PBX?
If you attach a VoIP phone to your AREDN LAN,
please advertise it with a unique hostname, such as
va3bhy-phone
I emailed you tunnel credentials.
73, Chuck
I connected a voip phone on my ARDN LAN and advertised it as va3bhy-phone.
It is late now, but tomorrow, I will try to ring you.
73, Al
Hi, Al:
You could tunnel with VE3YCL-Buckhorn-Hub which is not a supernode.
I suggest a tunnel with VE3KPG-GATEWAY, primary.
Else VE3PBO-PETERBOROUGH-HUB, secondary.
I 'see' your phone.
I set up extension 1082 on my PBX and sent you credentials.
It is early now, but today, I will try to ring you.
I can SIP: dial your phone by dialing 73+823249 (your callsign) from any PBX extension.
