Tunnel Request - NNJ
Hi,
Starting from scratch here. Orv W6BI suggested I start in this forum. He suggested a tunnel solution first & said Mark N2MH is the closest node.
I have some more questions, but will keep it simple for now.

Thanks,
Glenn

Matthew,
Thanks for reaching out. I haven’t purchased anything yet. Looking at a Mikrotik hAP ac Lite. First & main question is, do I have to replace my Home TP-Link WiFi6 router? I hope not. Can the custom router be part of my local LAN?
I also have read about having to load the custom firmware. I’d like to “map” it out first. Can you recommend Windows based PXE server SW?

Thanks again,
Glenn

Glenn,

Glenn,
I started with a Microtik hAP, I have two of them.If you have a few extra dollars you might want to look into the Microtik hAP ac2, its 'better' and has more memory. I also have a GL.iNet GL-AR150, its a smaller node but it was very easy to get the firmware installed on it. But its on the sunset list.

You will not need to replace your home router nor would you want to as you will still need it for all of your non-ham radio related stuff. You will just link your node into your home network.
You need to load the firmware, its not difficult but if you follow the directions to the letter you will be all set.
I use "Tiny PXE".
If you would like to look around the MESH I have a 'starter kit' I can send you and you will be able to have a look around with out investing in any hardware.

Tunnel request - NNJ
Hi Matthew ,
I have my Microtek set up (with the help of this site and the YouTube community). I'm ready to set up the Tunnel client but need information to do that if you can assist.

Thanks again,
Glenn

Tunnel client offered in DM and email.
It would be better to have a tunnel with a closer AREDN node than Ohio.
In the meantime, for experience, temporary tunnel client credentials were offered.

Chuck,
Thanks for the credentials. I'll reach out to N2MH. He seems closest to me here.

Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn,
Glenn,
When you reach out to N2MH, he will need your node name. He will respond with some information:
Server
Password
Network
Navigate to the 'tunnel client' tab on your node and enter the info provided.
Click the 'enabled' radio botton and then 'add' (under action)
and last part, ' save changes
'
