A network member has a TP-Link CPE220 on order and would like to try it on our AREDN network.
We know the CPE210 is on the AREDN supported list but the 220 is not.
They seem to be similar units except the 220 has more TX power and antenna gain.
The OpenWRT site has a section on "TP-Link CPE210/220" but only shows support for the 210.
Are there any recommendations such as:
- Go ahead and try the current AREDN for CPE210 and use the same tftp to revert back to TP-Link Pharos firmware if it is soft-bricked?
- Definitely do do try the AREDN for CPE210 and wait until it is supported?
- Try some other version other than the latest release?
Any other comments, cautions or warnings?
We do not yet know what version of the CPE220 is being shipped.
Thanks, Mike ab4yy
Mike,
I have the patches available to add support for the CPE220v3 in the near future. I have created a custom build for the CPE220v2 that is based on LEDE as it does not seem to work with OpenWrt.

Andrew,
I'm the guy with the CPE220. The firmware is version 3, and I haven't been able to get the CPE210 v2 AREDN firmware to work with it. I'd be more than happy to try to help - I have a little bit of background in networking and I think I could contribute - just not sure how to start.

I just received my CPE220 a few days ago, simple flash with V3, works great in Medford Oregon. The flash only allow 25dbi.
I ran across the same limit - see: https://www.arednmesh.org/content/tp-link-cpe220-v30-support-nightly-build
