Our mesh project cannot grow much more because of the cost of hiring a tower climber. We have permission to install nodes on all the EMA
towers in our county, but they require a licensed, insured tower climber to do the installation. That costs about $600 just for the climber, for each tower.
We have obtained donations from some hams for some of the towers, but not all. How do others handle these costs?

You may want to see who else is on the tower, and maybe share the climb. We have a relationship with our local WISP who is on many of the locations we want to be on. They offered to climb for us at a nominal cost when they have to also climb. We have not used them to date, but have developed a relationship with them. They also did not know we operate on our own frequencies.
Also many WISP operators are getting rid of their Ubiquiti radios in exchange for AC models or a complete vendor change. (Cheep Radios) $15.00 for Rocket m5
