Our club just purchased 6 NanoStations M5 for testing out our new AREDN network. In watching some YouTube videos, I saw one video who flashed new firmware (from the standard Ubiquity "update firmware" upload location) directly from the Ubiquity software vs TFTP. It worked.
I'm assuming the TFTP s the AREDN "supported" method, but does the firmware upload through the stock Ubiquity firmware work also for initial flashing?
Thanks

With the newer (ie. v5.6+) Ubiquiti AirOS/bootloader combinations, Ubiquiti WEB GUI no longer allows you to install non-Ubiquiti firmware. TFTP is the only way. (but it's still pretty easy. Just follow the docs in our DOCS menu above
