Sonoma 14
Getting set up on AREDN, but having difficutly in making connections with other nodes.
My main computer of choice is my Mac Mini. The problem is related to the Sonoma 14 OS, I think.
When attempting to connect to another node, I get the message that the server cannot be found or the page requested loaded.
This happens in Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge (all the browser platforms available to me).
Because it happens across all platforms makes me think the problem is not with the browsers, but the OS.
If I use another computer (MacBook)running a slightly older OS, everything works fine. I am able to reach other nodes.
I also have no problems with iPhone or iPad, just the Mini.

Anyone heard of a problem with Mac OS Sonoma (14)?

I have checked every browser setting I can think of and found no solution.

Connecting
If the nodes you're trying to 'connect' to aren't already linked together via a network (RF or tunneled over the Internet), you won't be able to reach them.

Hi, Les:

Please post the exact URL your browser requested and
please post the exact error message.

"When attempting to connect to another node,"
Exactly how are you "attempting to connect to another node"?
Are you clicking on the Node Name under Current Neighbors on your cgi-bin/mesh page
as in my image?

Yes, Chuck,
Yes, Chuck,
Any node/link on my mesh status does not work while using my Mac Mini. If I use my iPhone or iPad, they work. I keep thinking it is a Mac Sonoma problem.
Tried just now with my  iPhone to be sure and links work just fine.

Safari DNS issue
Les:
Is your Safari using the DNS in your AREDN node?
Can you browse your neighbor node using its IP address?
ping -c 1 ki5zsf-hap1
ping -c 1 ki5zsf-hap1.local.mesh
traceroute ki5zsf-hap1
?

Sonoma 14: Not loading http:// ?
Hi, Les:
I use Firefox and I need to go to Settings and allow 'http:'.
Can you try an edit the URL of your neighbor node by prefixing "http://" in front of the "ki5zsf-hap1.local.mesh" ?
OTOH, this seems to be a 'Sonoma 14'/Mac-OS issue.
Perhaps you would find better/faster/qualified help in a MacIntosh forum.

Please describe (or a drawing) of your local computer / AREDN network.  Primarily what I am interested in is what devices connect to what and in particular, if any computers are connecte to multiple networks.

Cable from wall (ISP) -> modem/router -> cable to internet port on hAP (MikroTik RB9852Ui lite)
Mac Mini is also connected to one of the other LAN ports on the router/modem. All ports are not labeled and look identical.
Cable modem is a NetGear Nighthawk AC1900 Wifi Cable Modem Router.
Mac Mini is communicates with hAP by 5 Gig wireless connection.

I hope that makes sense.

Hi, Les:

"Mac Mini is also connected to one of the other LAN ports on the router/modem."
And the Mac Mini is connected to LAN Port 2 or 3 or 4 of the hAP-ac-lite?
You should not need 2 connections on the Mac Mini if it is connected to Port 2,3,4 of the hAP.
If the Mac Mini is connected to the hAP as you describe above, it should have access to
both the AREDN network and the ISP network.
I think. ;-)

I hope I did not mislead. At the moment the hAP has one connection coming from the router. That is the only connection to the hAP. The Mac Mini is also connected to the router.
On the hAp the one connection is to the Internet (Blue) port. All other ports are empty.
I appreciate the help.

You said that the Mac communicates with the hAP via WiFi - that IS a second connection.

"That is the only connection to the hAP.
The Mac Mini is also connected to the router. "

Why does the Mac Mini have 2 connections?

If the Mac Mini is connected to any of the hAP's LAN ports, it should have access to
both the AREDN network and the ISP network.
I think. ;-)

I hope this helps,
Chuck

Thanks, guys,
Thanks, guys,
I will work on a drawing of how I am connected. It may take a while and not be posted until later or even tomorrow.

Thank you for the description
Thank you for the description.  My guess is that because the Mac has two network connections, it is not knowing where to route certain traffic.  I know nothing about how route tabes are set up on a Mac, so I can't help you resolve it (Windows I know, but not a Mac).

Also, make sure that you do
Also, make sure that you do NOT have a hard-coded DNS server(s) on your Mac's network interface.   If so, it will not use the ones provided by the node's DHCP server.
