Under the theme of "ICOM SHF

Under the theme of "ICOM SHF Project—Super High Frequency Band Challenge —", we started to develop a new amateur radio available for use in the 2.4 GHz and 5.6 GHz bands.

Guessing SHF acronym was chosen because it evokes solid waste dispersal by impact with rotary atmospheric impeller.  Not so much Super High Frequency.

Rebranded hardware sourced from Ubiquiti or Microtik running a "D-STAR" proprietary layer that won't play with others.  Is this really as good as your guess?
