GL-iNet AR300M16 firmware verification fails, over and over again
Hi,

This is the 4th GL-iNet AR300M16 I've flashed (updated the FW to Aredn).   The previous 3 had no issues and went well.  This one doesn't get past the "Testing the firmware with sysupgrade failed.".  I've tried Aredn  3.23.4.0  ,  3.23.12.0  ,  3.24.6.0   and the nightly from  20240917.    I thought maybe GL-iNet changed their FW and maybe Aredn hadn't caught up, so I reverted the current GL-iNet FW that came with the node to a previous  "openwrt-ar300m16-4.3.7-0913-1694589994"  and that FW loaded just fine.   I again tried to load all the Areden FW listed above and none of them passed the firmware verification step.   So the OpenWrt loads but the Aredn FW doesn't.   I've reset it, restarted the computer, tried a different browser, tried a different computer and everything else I can think of.

This was one of two ordered at the same time from Amazon.  One had no issues and this one won't load Aredn FW.  Any ideas???

Can the 'Testing the firmware' part be skipped?
https://docs.arednmesh.org/en/latest/arednGettingStarted/installing_firm... Hi, Lee: Verify that you uncheck the Keep Settings checkbox (GL.iNet settings are incompatible) I hope this helps, Chuck

Thanks for the suggestion, and the link
Hi Chuck, thanks for the suggestion.  In the normal sequence of things when updating these, the option to uncheck the "Keep Settings" comes right after the step I'm stuck at.

Your link pointed me to this link GL-AR300M (Shadow) - GL.iNet Router Docs 3 (gl-inet.com)  which is a bit out of date but looks like it might be helpful, thanks!  If I get it to load, I'll report back.

I got it to work
The AR300M16 has a LuCI graphic interface built in but it is not the default choice, which is the GL-iNet interface,  I switched to LuCI and was able to "force" the firmware upgrade.  It worked!   The node is happily Aredn now.

Thanks for pointing down the right path.
