I would like to propose 2 new features patterned after the old Network Stumbler program:
1. Audible node signal strength - an audible rendition of the strength of any node in sight - tied to the graphical signal strength - make it easier to aim nodes while onsite. (on the tower, rooftop, etc)
2. Audible sound when new nodes are connected.
Network Stumbler has some really neat sounds for both of these functions. The signal strength is piano chords increasing in frequency with received strength. The new station alert is a very low-key pleasant tone. I believe NWS Chat has some similar feature as played through Pidgin and the browser.
Of course these features would be enabled and diabled with a "check box".
