AREDN map update process

I am sure this is well documented somewhere, but a quick search came up empty for me.  What is the normal process for nodes on the AREDN map to get updated, I am assuming it is automatic if the nodes are Internet connected in some way?  And for offline node updates, for nodes that have no Internet access, how do those updates get placed in the map?  Thanks.

"And for offline node updates, for nodes that have no Internet access, how do those updates get placed in the map?"
I put "map" in the search box and clicked 'Search'.
Here is the first item returned:

I hope this helps,

Ah yes, the optional settings

I must confess I haven't done any config on my nodes in quite some time and forgot about those optional settings, thanks for the reminder.  However the "off line" in the "off line map tool" seems a bit misleading, because as you read how to use that tool it is anything but off line "Ensure that the node is connected to a VLAN capable switch that is configured with VLAN1 (WAN) access to the internet.  (OR, use an AirRouter that is connected to the internet)"  To me off line means a node without an Internet connection, but this tool clearly requires one to work, or at least that is the way I am reading it.  Am I missing something here?

3. Ensure that your PC is connected to a node as a LAN device.

Hi, Bill:

I have never used the oms.exe. I don't have a windoze PC.
Perhaps this should read:
3. Ensure that your PC is connected to 'a node' as a LAN device, but not 'the node' you wish to update.

I guess that 'a node' needs to be on the same AREDN network as 'the node'. :-|

Of course, the computer that is running oms.exe needs to have internet access.
Apparently, it also need to be able to access the node to be updated.
Therefore, a suitable VLAN switch configuration may be needed.

I hope this helps, Chuck
