I am new to the AREDN network. So as I am exploring and checking the maps I notice that the live world maps show and display MAC address.
So my question is why and at what point is this information used or publicly needed? The identity of the device at this level to display a MAC address I dont believe this should be displayed publicly. Not knowing too much about this subject I wonder what others feel about this subject.
I don't believe that a MAC address should be showed publicly or Serial number type details should be shown.
I dont wish to explain more.

There are times when running a WiFi scan you come across a very weak AREDN Node (say less then -90 dB Sig as an example) and the Hostname will be listed as N/A (No Hostname) along with a valid MAC/BSSID. Knowing the MAC ID can allow you to identify the "Mystery Node" that comes and go. Always fun to see what's out there...
