Hello everybody,
What is, if any, the advantage of a sole node running 802.11ac in a mesh with all the other nodes running 802.11g/n ?

You won't see faster transfer rates unless both ends of a link are running 802.11ac, and even then only if it's a strong link. We've seen between 30 and 50% throughput improvements on those strong links.
But the new gear has a faster CPU (quicker screen updates), more RAM and Gigabit ports. They also may have somewhat more sensitive receivers. All of those help future-proof your purchase and lay the bedrock for future network improvements.
Any new node we install will be 802.11ac.
Hope this helps.
