Hi,
I just dig out some ubiquiti nodes that I havent used for a couple of years and thought I would update them. I downloaded the various versions of the firmware and started to upload them viaa the admin page.
Just realised that on one of the Nanostation M2s, I have uploaded the firmware for a bullet/loco
Is it now bricked?
Thanks
Just cant get to any interface.
Any suggestions?
Do nanostations have a jtag interface or serial?
Cheers
Jon
What version of AREDN (bullet) did you put on it? 3.16.1.1?
Chances are, you can probably still connect to the node try 192.168.1.1:8080 from your computer and attempt reload of the proper Firmware from the web interface - if not, TFTP. There is an internal serial interface available but I don't think you will have to go that far.
Hard reset first by holding the reset button during power up and hold for 30-60 seconds until the status lights blink in combination 1&3, 2&4. Then power cycle and try to connect to the node again.
I somehow managed to upload the 3.16.1.1 bullet firmware to a nanostation m2. Need to pay more attention in the future!
I did try resetting but will give it one more go..
I have been reading this: https://community.ubnt.com/t5/airOS-SDK-Custom-Development/AirMAX-Device... has got me to the point of a being able top TFTP a .bin file but trying the correct AREDN file says "firmware check failed! (-2)"
Hard reset got more life out oof it, thanks.
Cant get to any interface though apart from serial. At the serial console I have the Aredn prompt with roo@NOCALL
I have run an nmap scan against it and there are no open ports and I cant ping it. It is however, handing out DHCP IP Addresses.
So can I enable the webinterface from the command prompt?
If not, I am thinking a TFTP upload is going to be the only option.
Any suggestions on firmware versions to try and where to get them from?
The development firmware can be found here:
http://downloads.aredn.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/generic/
You are supposed to be able to directly TFTP2 these files to you node. Be sure to use the "Factory" version, not the upgrade).
Fingers crossed I have got it back.
I assume you remember how to log in to a "fresh" node : login=root pw=hsmm
Found a step in the TFTP flashing to copy environmental variables hadn't worked.
Now all solved and working well
Thanks for your help
Have you looked to see "why" it won't save settings? You need to move the distance parameter to greater than 0. 1 mile is good enough.
<wink-wink>
I do have a ticket open for setting a supported list of browsers in AREDN, maybe a ticket might be good to have AREDN adopt an operating system support as well for any tools AREDN considers developing (if any)
