Firmware version is important
You can theoretically dial an IP address directly, not just from the phonebook, for example, 10.0.0.1 as 10*0*0*1#, but I did some experimentation with this a while back. The latest firmware release that works correctly is 7.6.2e (aka 7.6.2SR5), from October 2018. 7.6.2SR6/7.6.2f (Oct 2019) and 7.6.2SR7/7.6.2g (Oct 2020, and final release) do *not* properly work with direct IP dialing, yielding "Network Error" when *any* IP address is dialed.
