Revert MikroTik hAP back to RouterOS
Hey,

I wonder if it is possible to revert a MikroTik hAP AC back to RouterOS operation system?
I've the latest RouterOS firmware but not sure how to do that and if it's actually an option.

Thanks

Yes and Good Luck
It can be done but it is not easy. Follow these instructions: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall

Able to restore RouterOS on my MikroTik hAP ac lite

These directions worked for me.  But I had to keep holding down the reset for 20-30 seconds after restoring power to the router until NetInstall found it.  After that the install took a while but worked fine.  Then I was able to use Winbox to configure the RouterOs settings (using logging in via the MAC address).

No dice,
No dice,
I was able to see the device in netinstall and flash it.
Progress bar was ok and at the end the app said "successful" and wrote "waiting for boot".
Yet, I can't seems to be able to interact with the unit, tried DHCP, tried static IP (192.168.88.3 on my pc, calling 192.168.88.1) but nothing.
Can't see any default wireless network as well.

I guess I will throw these units to the recycle.

I have done this a few times now and worked fine. You have to manually reboot the node

Try several times.
Try several times.  NetInstall is rather picky.

Like I said it's not easy but like K6CCC said keep trying and I now remember that you need to make sure the you shut off the WiFi  on your PC too. I'm not sure if the "latest" firmware is best, you probably should use the original firmware that you had before the conversion to AREDN.

Wifi is off,
Wifi is off,
I'm working from a shelter so there's only hardwire here :)

I've no clue which firmware I had originally
and yet, netisntall isn't a great tool - I had to run it several times till I saw that progress bar actually moving.

I will try with older versions.

Thanks

Just a quick follow-up for
Just a quick follow-up for the sake of knowledge share.

netinstall worked just fine,
the flashed unit comes up with a total blank configuration having no IP address assigned at all,
so it's not accessible in the conventional way.

To overcome that, there is another software called "Winbox" (download it from Mikrotik as well)
which use the mac address to access the unit and configure it.

I have to apologize for that.

I have to apologize for that. I knew that you needed to use WinBox and I thought that it was in the instructions link above and it should be!
