If I change the band width and click on Apply or Save Changes, it drops the connection.
In fact even if I make no changes the result is the same.
How do I fx this?

Part A:
If you change the band width, then all connections on the former band width are not possible.
Part B:
Clicking 'Apply' or 'Save Changes' likely assumes that something changed so networking is restarted.
There will be a temporary loss of connections.
"How do I fx this? "
To avoid the temporary loss of networking, do not click 'Apply' nor 'Save Changes'.

Hi, Bob:
In the default screen (/cgi-bin/status), click the 'Setup' button.
In the next screen (/cgi-bin/setup), click the button to the right of 'Channel Width'.
Select the band width by clicking one of the selections in the 'drop down window'.
Click the 'Save Changes' button.
Click the 'Reboot' button.
Wait about 60 seconds and your node will become available with the new settings.

Making these kind of changes can be tricky and requires careful preplanning. For this reason is real helpful to have multiple paths into a node---from backbone node clusters for example.
