It would be very helpful if the nodes would use the DNS server of the node whos WAN is being used. Instead of it always being what appears to be what is configured on the originating node, or 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4.

There really is no practical
There really is no practical way to propagate that. DNS if not locally configured, is part of a DHCP assignment. But we are not getting a DHCP assignment from the WAN gateway.

I agree with K6CCC. 1.1.1.1,
I agree with K6CCC. 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4 should be valid DNS servers for most any public internet connection. I see it as bad practice to generally share the internet with the mesh directly...
