Trouble in the Tunnel

I have a client on a reliable ISP that for some reason doesn’t play well on our AREDN mesh network using an AirRouter and AirRouter-HP and even in the past WRT-54. It always acts the same from his location on and off again for over 3 years now via tunnel.

It appears that it may be rebooting constantly as it shows that its uptime is never more than an hour and it is very difficult to access at times with the NLQ and LQ up and down at any given time, again over a tunnel. Would opening port 5525 help as if he were running a server?
He is and important person to me for accesses to the City of Providence high-rises and Providence EMA and of course his has to be the one to fail from his home. All the City nodes run perfectly but he lives outside the coverage area and I would like to keep him online to check in on the cameras and network as he does often from the city communication office.

Thoughts and or suggestions? At some point we will get him on over the air but that’s not going to be anytime soon.
See support data.

Thanks,

I would try a device with more memory.

Hi, Denis

 I recommendsomething with more memory;
GL.iNET GL-AR150 Mini Travel Router with 2dbi External Antenna, Wi-Fi Converter, OpenWrt Pre-Installed, Repeater Bridge, 150Mbps High Performance, OpenVPN, Programmable IoT Gateway

~$27.

Or maybe a better choice is the glinet 750 or best a Mikrotik hAP.

Hope this helps, Chuck

Thank you Chuck and I don't
Thank you Chuck and I don't disagree however I do not understand why this and other nodes at his location continue to fail. I will pick up one of the above with more memory as you suggest but the very same node was working well on high rise building and it was hosting a PTZ camera without issue. The only change was the call sign and I updated the firmware version but only after it was already acting up...didn't help.

nodes at his location continue to fail

Hi, Denis:

Thank you for repeating that nodes at his location continue to fail.
I had overlooked that item in your 1st post and only saw that the devices in use were old (>5 years) and, likely < 32MB RAM.
Tunnels are not recommended in <= 32 MB devices.
"the very same node was working well on a high rise building...and was hosting...without issue."
Let us focus on the quality of power devices (120VAC,POEs), RF interference, internet service at his location.

I hope this helps, Chuck

You may be on to something as his ISP should be good and I have the RF on the node off but I don't know what else he has running in his shack, and RFI from something running in an automatic mode could be possible...I'll let you know! Thanks again.
