Greeting!
I am located in Burbank and I'm working to hookup to existing mesh network up on Verdugo.
I have a Ubiquiti RocketM5 (XW) (with Omni AMO-5G10) and a Nanostation Loco M5 (XW).
I have installed aredn (aredn-3.19.3.0-ubnt-rocket-m-xw-factory.bin) and was able to configure and have the 2 devices talk to each other at 30ft distance for testing.
I am attempting to connect to the the Verdugo nodes:
* WD6EBY-LA-Verdugo-S-Sector-5G - Ch: 179 - BW: 10
* WD6EBY-LA-Verdugo-W-Sector-5G - Ch: 174 - BW: 10
Reference from:
* http://usercontent.arednmesh.org/K/5/K5DLQ/livemap2.html
* https://www.pvarc.club/mesh/mesh-access-points/
I am doing this as a portable setup at this time - I don't have a permanent mast to mount these at this time - so my best height is approx 10ft off of the ground and pointed roughly in the direction of Verdugo peak.
I am attempting this from 2 locations:
* Location 1 - 34.186703, -118.344905 (https://goo.gl/maps/WoCqowU3DePis7L69)
* Location 2 - 34.168582, -118.321070 (https://goo.gl/maps/x3GD6JYsuetWtpKp8)
I can get the 2x devices to connect to each other - but I do not see the Verdugo nodes show up when I go outside and configure/try the different channel values at this time.
I am looking for help setting up/trouble-shooting and suggestions - thanks;

The good news, is, the two locations you posted are well within the coverage from Verdugo Peak (assuming you have true LOS). So please be patient.

I am a member of the Burbank Fire Corps / Fire Department Volunteer Program (https://www.burbankfirecorps.org) - I live not far from Station 15 so I am using it as a reference.
I am currently building a kit/meshnet 'go-bag' as a 'proof of concept' for building a localized dynamic mesh network for intra-node communications (VOIP, text messaging) and exploring linking into the established aredn network.
I am working with several Ubiquity devices (Nanostation M5, Rocket M5), and wifi infrastruction pieces (GL.inet routers).
I hope that when I hear that the Verdugo nodes are back up and running, I can link in and start planning a more permanent setup.

I used a temporary setup - zip-ties and some 2x4s - to get some height.
I have 2x ubiquiti devices with the following configuration:
SSID: AREDN-10-v3
Channel 179
Bandwidth: 10MHz
Firmware 3.19.3.0
KJ6BCA-RM5N0-41-158
SSID: AREDN-10-v3
Channel 179
Bandwidth: 10MHz
The 2 nodes can see each other, but not any other nodes.
So far I havn't had much luck connecting to other nodes.

I will try again this weekend, starting with the Rocket with the Omni antenna and see if I hit anything.
If I don't see anything, I will setup the NanoStation and point in the direction of Verdugo.

on what to change. My setup: Ubiquiti LightBeam AC Gen2 LBE-5AC, 8' above roof on a steel pole, ~25 miles.
