Are you unable to install the meshchat_1.02_all.ipk ?
If there is an error message, please share.

I run 'MeshChat' on a RaspberryPi.

The official AREDN recommendation is to avoid installing things on the node.   connecting a RaspberryPi (or other server) to the LAN of a node and installing any applications on the RPi is the preferred method.
