Best use of Mikrotik hap usb

just playing as I rebuild my RIOP station. Using the hap as nodes, one fixed with ic-7100 and one portable with 7100 control head, signaling, rip on both.

The pass through POE is a no brainer, but trying to get a handle on the USB port.

hAP AC lite USB power on/off
Need today's Nightly build images #485 or later for the USB power feature on the hAP ac lite.  Darryl submitted a bugfix on this yesterday.    

BTW, I have test images for the hAP ac lite 5GHz LAN Access Point capability.  This is a day or 2 away from going into the nightly build.

loaded 485 seemed not to supply
Power to usb device. I tried several different five volt AP units, none powered up.

I will have the second hap ac lite tomorrow. That will complete the ROIP rebuild. Would love to test new tools.

You need to hit the Save

You need to hit the Save Settings in Advanced Configuration page and it will turn on (with the box checked) but the Default Save is not functioning so you will need to turn it on every time you boot the node.  Looking forward to the 5GHz AP!

With this, I am putting the base ROIP box back together.

When the next hap gets here (tomorrow) build out the portable control head unit.
Also added Frederick to the map.

Yep,
anytime you power down and up, it must be manually saved. Looks like default is not working.

Power/Current capacity?
What's the current capability of the Mikrotik  952Ui-5ac2nD POE pass through?   I feed DtD and 24 Volts through an Ethernet cable all the way around the eaves of the house to the base of the tower to power a Ubiquiti Toughswitch which in turn feeds 24 V POE to two Nanostations.  I can feed POE in to the Mikrotik with enough current, but am concerned about damaging the passthrough circuity in the Mikrotik.

Im surprised that your current setup is working, and definitely I wouldn't even try to use the PoE port on the Mikrotik. Run 802.3AF/AT to the tower instead then convert down to 24V there.

I also have a ToughSwitch near my tower, but in this case, I was able to easily extend the back porch 120V circuit to the weatherproof box protecting the switch.

I currently use a POE injector in the shack and run 24V on the same Ethernet cable around to the Toughswitch, and pull it off there to power the switch (and thus the Nanostations).
I was pretty sure the POE in the Mikrotik wasn't sufficient; was just curious what it was capable of.
