Hello Folks!!,
I am looking into using the CPE210 from TPLink for one of my nodes, I read about alot of issues with those units...
Are they really worth it?
Are they MIMO devices?
Will they handle large networks without crashing like the older Ubiquity stuff does?

I recommend that you do not invest in 2.4 GHz outdoor equipment.

That being said, my second AREDN gear purchase (in 2015) was a CPE210 v1.0. Even back then they had 64MB of RAM (twice that of the Ubiquiti gear of that vintage). It's still working, as a backup link into our local network! It was upgraded to the latest production release no problem.

But I do have some part time users that log in on 2.4GHz hams on fixed income who wont upgrade their stuff. That is the reason I am looking at this. I had a Ubiquity M2 HP in service but it coukd not stay alive for more than a week or two before I had to power cycle it to reboot it. Pulling out all legacy Ubiquity stuff and replacing with new.
Thanks!!

Hi, Ron:
With the knowledge of your back-story, I amend my recommendation to:
I recommend that you do not re-invest in 2.4 GHz outdoor equipment.
Perhaps let those that won't upgrade - tunnel into your AREDN network.

CPE210 gave me trouble upgrading beyone 3.22.12.0 so it's stuck on old firmware ... CPE510 no issues. Go figure. While I have the 210 in my kit I never deploy it. Last time I used it was for a short distance link to a hAP when the hAP was limited which band could do wifi and which could do mesh.
