LiteBeam M5 - inovato Quadra - Android Phone
I can access my LiteBeam M5 using an inovato Quadra (running Armbian) via the Firefox browser.
The M5 connects via a five port tp-link switch to the Quadra LAN port.
If the wifi/bluetooth USB nic is installed - the connection to the M5 is broken.
I have NOMACHINE on my Android phone and the Quadra - so the phone acts as monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Is there any way to overcome the broken connection to the M5 when the Wifi/BT USB nic is installed?
Sure would be nice to not have to carry around a 10" monitor and a keyboard/trackpad.
Thanks

At this point I assume that you have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached to the inovato-quadra.

The M5 connects via a five port tp-link switch to the Quadra LAN port.
Now:

What is the use of the 'wifi/bluetooth USB nic' ?

Is the connection broken between the switch and the M5 or between the switch and the inovato-quadra or between the android phone and the inovato-quadra?

You mentioned an Android Phone in your Subject.
I assume the phone connects to the inovato-quadra via 2 GHz Wi-Fi?
I assume that you are running hostAP on the inovato-quadra so that the 2 GHz Wi-Fi phone can route to the 2 GHz Wi-Fi inovato-quadra and out the LAN to the switch then to the LiteBeam M5.

The keyboard and mouse are
The keyboard and mouse are connected to the inovato-quadra via a multi-port usb hub. The monitor is connected via hdmi.
The M5 is connected to a PoE block that is plugged into the tp-link 5-port switch.
The tp-link 5-port switch is plugged into the inovato-quadra.
The goal is to replace the monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse with the phone.
The purpose of the Wifi/BT usb nic is to facilitate the connection of the phone to the inovato-quadra via NOMACHINE.
I can access the M5 fine via the Firefox browser if the Wifi/BT usb nic is unplugged - but lose it when it's plugged in.
The same was true with a Win7 laptop.

Wifi/BT usb nic

"I can access the M5 fine via the Firefox browser if the Wifi/BT usb nic is unplugged - but lose it when it's plugged in."

Run a 'diff' on the 'ifconfig -a' with the WiFi/BT plugged in and not plugged in.

"The same was true with a Win7 laptop."

Does the 'WiFi/BT USB NIC' function correctly in any manner when plugged into the inovato-quadra?
If plugged into the Win7?

The Wifi/Nic works correctly
The Wifi/Nic works correctly - the problem is that on both the inovato-quadra and the Win7 laptop, inserting it breaks the connection to the M5.
The instructions to set up AREDN for programming say that such a nic must be disconnected for that process to work.
I'm trying to discover if there's any possible way for the M5 and the Wifi/BT devices to both be connected during operation - and to play nicely together.

Try inserting the WiFi/NIC, then cold booting the computer.
I suggested in message #4:
Run a 'diff' on the 'ifconfig -a' with the WiFi/BT plugged in and not plugged in.
If Windows (2,95,98, NT, 7,8,10,11) the command is "IPCONFIG /ALL", I think.

Citation/URL?

This may be for the convenience of the computer used...so that it is not confused as the ethernet connections go 'up' and 'down'.
IOW, this is not an AREDN issue.

I'm trying to discover if there's any possible way for the M5 and the Wifi/BT devices to both be connected during operation - and to play nicely together.

Start up your computers with all devices connected, then look at each computer's apparent networks.

Wi-Fi network with gateway and ethernet without
Note that your Wi-Fi has an address and netmask and gateway.

When TFTP'ing, if your computer doesn't know where to send the 192.168.1.x packets,
it will send them out the Wi-Fi port, 192.168.50.x.

It is recommended, when attempting to TFTP on the ethernet port,
to disable the Wi-Fi port.

That was from a different thread.

Those instructions are for installing AREDN firmware onto an Ubiquiti device.

Please do not plug/unplug devices during a test setup.
Let us start over with everything plugged in and powered and then take a look at the network.

ifconfig doesn't appear to be present in the inovato-quadra version of Armbian.
I think I may be able to install net-tools.
Meanwhile, I tried "nmcli dev status" and got this ... powered-on with the Wifi-BT nic installed.

Powered off.
Powered off.
Installed Wifi/BT nic.
Powered on.
Ran "nmcli dev status"
Output is the same as the first image, above.

Okay: Back to the original

Okay: Back to the original issue:
"I can access my LiteBeam M5 using an inovato Quadra (running Armbian) via the Firefox browser.

Without unplugging your wifi/bluetooth USB nic.
Connect your computer and/or NOMACHINE and/or the inovato Quadra to the 'five port tp-link switch'.
Is the LiteBeam M5's web server available?
