Just recently set up a Arednmesh node providing internet via a smart ubiquiti switch to one my repeater sites. I have an Allstar node at the repeater tied into the
2nd AREDN mesh node but can't seem to make Port forwarding work on ssh or accessing iax. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Eric,
See this thread:

Keith would be a good contact , been-there-done-that, to contact from that thread.

Eric, these are very lean linux kernels and installed tools, given the very limited memory on these embedded devices. The nodes have "vi" by default. There may be packages out there for other editors to install from Openwrt 18.06.1 release, but I've not used any.
Another option is to copy down the file using scp, edit on your regular desktop and editor, then scp back up.
making every thing work! Now on to learning how to DTD link this will be my next hurdle. A point in the right direction would be nice!

DtDLink (and WAN/Internet) depends on setting up a switch successfully. If you post the device models you have at a given location, there will be many folks in the forum that have been-there-done-that and can highlight next steps. Toughswitch? netgear? Also be sure to see the docs under the "software" drop down on the web site for the switch you have. Generally, for a repeater/tower site people get a ToughSwitch (a little higher $), because one can remotely power cycle a mesh node and have detailed insight to the port traffic counts, etc.
